The Payroll Specialist will oversee the payroll operations for all divisions within Beefbar NYC, ensuring that employee compensation is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role involves continuous monitoring of effective and compliant payroll processes. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for maintaining precise data entry and updates within the payroll system, executing payroll processing, and generating required reports in alignment with established policies, seeking assistance when necessary. In addition, the Payroll Specialist will oversee payroll processing and accounting systems to guarantee timely and accurate payroll transactions, including wages, benefits, paid time off, leaves, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, addressing any issues as needed. Ensuring compliance with tip pooling regulations through regular audits and flagging any discrepancies is also a key responsibility. The role requires preparing and maintaining detailed records and reports of payroll activities, issuing or reissuing physical checks or direct deposits as required, and reviewing budgets and general ledgers for assigned departments to confirm fund availability and correct expenditure assignments. The Payroll Specialist will reconcile payroll with the general ledger and monthly bank statements, maintain accountability to budgetary margins, and identify potential issues. Recording and processing federal and state payroll tax deposits, assisting in the preparation of financial statements and documentation for auditors, and helping to correct financial records and prepare annual financial reports and budgets as necessary are also part of the job. Acting as a subject matter expert, the Payroll Specialist will effectively communicate payroll data and supporting tools to diverse audiences, identify and recommend enhancements to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. The role requires exhibiting ownership, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail in payroll execution, promptly escalating any concerns or uncertainties to the Controller, and complying with company standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
