About the position

The Compensation Analyst will play a crucial role in the development and administration of compensation programs for our client based in Boston. This position involves providing day-to-day compensation administration support to various schools, units, and departments within the organization. The analyst will assist departments in reviewing and updating position descriptions, performing market analyses, and providing reports and data that inform compensation-related decisions. A key responsibility will be to review positions to ensure both internal and external equity, as well as compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). In addition, the Compensation Analyst will conduct and participate in multiple compensation market surveys, both within the university and across the general industry. This role requires a strong understanding of applicable federal and state laws relating to compensation and pay equity, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The analyst will need to demonstrate strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and analytical skills, particularly when working with large volumes of data. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and HRIS systems is essential, along with a working knowledge of SAP and MarketPay being preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day compensation administration to support schools, units, and departments.
  • Assist departments with reviewing and updating position descriptions.
  • Perform market analyses and provide reports and data for compensation-related decisions.
  • Review positions to ensure internal and external equity and FLSA compliance.
  • Conduct and participate in multiple University and General Industry compensation market surveys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in HR, business, or a related field.
  • CCP designation preferred or taking classes towards certification.
  • One to three years of human resources experience, preferably in compensation.
  • Previous higher education experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws relating to compensation and pay equity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers and large volumes of data with accuracy and speed.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and HRIS systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of SAP and MarketPay preferred.
