About the position

As a Compensation Analyst at UAB Medicine, you will play a crucial role in supporting the organization’s commitment to education and advancing medical science through research. UAB Medicine is recognized as Alabama's largest single-site employer, operating over 1,200 beds and more than 200 clinics in Birmingham, Alabama. This position offers an opportunity to work within a nationally ranked academic medical center that emphasizes patient care, innovation, and education, all within a supportive and inclusive culture. You will be part of a team that develops subject matter expertise in various areas including labor market research, total compensation, compensation structures, job classification, and compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) regulations. In this role, you will become a strategic and collaborative partner with assigned clients across functional areas such as academics, research, medicine, and support services. Your responsibilities will include providing guidance on pay decisions, policy interpretation, and job evaluation processes. You will also participate in compensation surveys, analyze data to assist in decision-making, and help develop compensation strategies that attract and retain talent. Additionally, you will manage HR processes and assist with special projects as needed, ensuring that UAB Medicine remains competitive in the job market while fostering a culture of excellence and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to assigned clients on pay decisions, policy interpretation, job evaluation processes and job description development.
  • Participates in and gathers data from general job market-based compensation surveys.
  • Uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assist in decision cost estimates, creating decision scenarios, reviewing job and employee equity and depicting job market trends.
  • Assists assigned clients in developing compensation and reward strategies that attract and retain talent.
  • Performs general salary reviews based on market-specific benchmarking to ensure internal and market competitiveness.
  • Manages the administration of HR processes, actions and procedures for assigned clients and compensation projects and/or initiatives.
  • Assists with special projects and analyses as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or a related field.
  • One (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

  • Ability to operate various office machines including printers, computers and various software packages.
