About the position

Gartner's Compensation Team is responsible for developing and maintaining compensation plans and investments that enhance our ability to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This role is crucial in compelling individual, team, and company performance that exceeds our operating plan in a cost-effective manner. To achieve these goals, the team conducts ongoing compensation analyses and modeling, analyzes pay and performance, and completes competitive external pay benchmarking studies. Collaboration with HR Business Partners and Business Leaders is essential to understand how their teams and roles are structured, ensuring that compensation strategies align with business needs. The Compensation Analyst will evaluate and benchmark jobs using external data sources, consulting with Compensation Partners on findings and sharing results back to HR Partners. This includes reviewing market trends for key jobs and career paths, and collaborating with the team to present findings and recommendations. The role also involves conducting ongoing compensation modeling and analysis, including pay and performance analytics, and sharing results with Compensation Partners and HR Partners. Additionally, the analyst will develop and maintain resources for HR Partners to access key compensation resources, including a job evaluation library and other guidelines. As an advocate of the compensation philosophy, the analyst will educate HR Partners on how to carry that forward with the business units they support. The position supports the annual merit, bonus, and equity allocation processes and helps lead the design, build, and management of the compensation planning system. This includes training users, developing user guides, and serving as a knowledge expert over time. The analyst will also help define and build leadership analysis tools and dashboards, identifying opportunities to continuously improve tools and streamline processes to increase the efficiency of compensation planning efforts and analytics.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years of relevant compensation, HR, or HR analytics experience
  • Previous experience in a consultative compensation role preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. ability to create complex dynamic formulas, charts, and dashboards)
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability and interest in learning a new software
  • Ability to maintain discretion with extremely confidential information
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships with HR Partners and management
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills
