About the position

The Compensation Analyst at Cleco plays a crucial role in supporting the company's compensation management activities. This position is designed for individuals who have a foundational understanding of compensation principles, practices, concepts, and theories. The analyst will work closely with the Compensation Advisor and the Manager of HRIS & Payroll to execute various tasks related to compensation management. This includes conducting salary surveys, analyzing data from various sources, and making recommendations to ensure that Cleco remains competitive in the job market, both internally and externally. In this role, the Compensation Analyst will assist in the preparation of compensation increase and incentive programs, utilizing data results to identify trends based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), market information, or business strategy. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing required reporting and filings, ensuring that all data management processes comply with company policies and privacy regulations. Collaboration with both internal and external partners, including employees, HR team members, business leaders, and compensation consultants, is essential for success in this position. Key responsibilities include championing a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence. The analyst will collect, analyze, and compile data from the human resource information system (HRIS) and other compensation sources to assist with market benchmarking and analysis of market trends. Participation in market competitive pay positions is also expected to ensure that the pay structure aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives. Additionally, the analyst will assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data for the Executive Compensation section of the annual proxy, and will compile compensation-related reporting for internal and external audits. The role requires a high level of analytical skills to evaluate, develop, and optimize compensation programs, while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of departmental records and employee documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Compensation Advisor and Manager of HRIS & Payroll with executing all activities associated with compensation management.
  • Conduct salary surveys and analyze data from survey sources to make recommendations for competitiveness.
  • Assist in preparation of compensation increase and incentive programs.
  • Utilize data results to make recommendations and identify trends based on KPIs, market information, or business strategy.
  • Prepare required reporting and filings related to compensation management.
  • Work with internal and external partners for data retrieval, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform employee data management and analysis processes to ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Collect, analyze, and compile data from HRIS and compensation sources for market benchmarking.
  • Participate in market competitive pay positions to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data for the Executive Compensation section of the annual proxy.
  • Compile compensation-related reporting for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare reports of data results for management and senior leadership.
  • Utilize analytical skills to evaluate and optimize compensation programs.
  • Respond to and resolve ad-hoc compensation related reporting inquiries.
  • Assist with compensation related configurations in Cleco's HCM system.
  • Participate on project teams related to compensation management.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Committed to confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive data.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet commitments in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of formal and informal intersections and interdependencies in problem-solving.
  • Compliance-minded with knowledge of compensation philosophy, human resources policies, labor laws, and regulations.
  • High level of discretion with confidential material.
  • Ability to relate effectively and tactfully with all levels of employees and leaders.
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to parse data and develop rational solutions.
  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS/Compensation systems is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a business intelligence platform such as MS Power BI.
