About the position

The Compensation Analyst position at Banner Health is a vital role within the Compensation Administration department, focusing on various project-oriented tasks that support compensation-specific initiatives, processes, and standards. This position is primarily remote, with standard weekday hours typically from 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing market data and large datasets, creating job descriptions, conducting job evaluations, and assisting with various Compensation Team projects. The role also involves participation in salary budget surveys, auditing pay practices, and analyzing reports to ensure competitive and fair compensation practices across the organization. In this role, the Compensation Analyst will prepare, participate in, and submit annual compensation survey data to national survey vendors. They will review survey results and prepare summaries of data findings to support the annual compensation review process, including making recommendations and aiding decision-making efforts. The analyst will also update and develop compensation formulas and modeling as guided by leadership, and may assist in preparing the annual budget related to provider compensation by analyzing data for reasonability compared to current expenses and known changes. Additionally, the Compensation Analyst will support the Compensation team in maintaining position descriptions, position identification numbers, and salary structures within the HRIS system. This may involve troubleshooting issues and escalating them to internal or external resources for resolution, as well as training application users. Regular analysis of compensation programs and practices will be performed to identify areas of concern, which will be communicated to leadership. The analyst will utilize software programs and reporting tools to review and analyze provider performance data, including relative value units (RVUs), which are essential for calculating the volume of work or effort expended by providers in treating patients. The role also includes performing data maintenance and audits to ensure accurate and effective data storage, leading departmental audits, and documenting desktop procedures to streamline and enhance departmental processes. The Compensation Analyst will collaborate with all members of the compensation team and other departments related to compensation research or data sharing, contributing to the development and implementation of large-scale projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance/accounting, human resources, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in finance/accounting, human resources, or a related field, demonstrating a good understanding of data reporting and analytics.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify patterns and trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to follow through.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from leadership.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
