About the position

The Compensation Analyst role at the Illinois Tollway involves administering compensation policies and programs, ensuring accurate job descriptions, and managing the job evaluation process. The analyst collaborates with various teams to provide competitive salary offers, conducts market analysis, and maintains confidentiality while adhering to customer service excellence standards.

Responsibilities

  • Administers compensation philosophy, policies, processes, and programs, including annual merit and COLA.
  • Ensures accurate and complete job descriptions for all positions.
  • Manages the job evaluation process, ensuring accurate job descriptions and title structures organization-wide.
  • Collaborates with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on competitive and equitable salary offers and recommendations.
  • Completes routine audits of employee data and classifications.
  • Participates in salary surveys and reviews results of market data as a comparison to the Tollway's salary ranges; conducts salary benchmarking analysis as needed.
  • Conducts analysis related to external market studies and internal pay challenges, including pay equity and compression.
  • Partners with HR Talent Acquisition and Professional Learning teams to build and deliver training and communication to support compensation philosophy and delivery.
  • Answers general inquiries, interprets policies, and shares market best practice information as appropriate.
  • Protects company proprietary information and maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to Tollway Customer Service Excellence standards.
  • Performs project-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of compensation experience.
  • Excellent verbal/written communications and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and aptitude for statistical analysis, spreadsheets manipulation, and database management.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office, statistical software, and advanced Web applications.
  • Solid understanding of labor markets and analytical skills to benchmark and report on compensation issues.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and application of Federal and State employment laws: FLSA, EEO, etc.
  • Ability to think creatively about alternatives and develop new ideas for work-related problems.
  • Must be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization with professionalism, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.
  • Strong work ethic with impeccable judgment and integrity.
  • Personal commitment to professional growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.
