About the position

The Compensation Analyst position at Building Service 32BJ Benefit Funds offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment. As a Compensation Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting job analyses, developing pay structures, and implementing compensation practices that attract and retain top talent across various service lines. In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Employee & Labor Relations, as well as engage with management at all levels. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating and implementing job analysis tools, preparing and maintaining job descriptions, and ensuring compliance with relevant labor regulations. You will also support the Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams by providing insights into job requirements and necessary skills for recruitment and training purposes. Additionally, you will benchmark compensation against market data, prepare recommendations for salary ranges, and maintain job classifications and salary scales. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you gather data from compensation surveys and conduct cost analyses to inform employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements. The role requires a proactive approach to tracking activities and creating dashboards to monitor projects and assignments related to job analysis and compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Prepare analysis of new and maintain existing job descriptions for all Funds positions.
  • Interview and survey employees and managers to gather job-related information.
  • Research regulatory issues and compliance with the DOL and other employment governing agencies.
  • Support the Talent Acquisition Team in developing candidate profiles and interview assessments.
  • Support the Learning & Development Team in constructing training programs based on job descriptions.
  • Establish policies and best practices for job description maintenance.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Prepare recommendations for management based on market research and internal factors.
  • Maintain approved job classifications and salary scales.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys and analyze results.
  • Conduct data and cost analyses for employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Partner with management to recommend compensation for staff at various employment stages.
  • Advise on best practices for maintaining pay structures and policies.
  • Track activities and create dashboards to monitor projects and assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in compensation analysis or a similar field.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills, including managing large data sets and using pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of job analysis, pay structures, salary benchmarking, and employment law regulations.
  • Outstanding work ethic and reliable employment record.
  • Effective relationship management skills across all organizational levels.
  • Project management and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional judgment with critical evaluation and analytical skills.
  • Well organized, attentive to detail, and able to multitask.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity with sensitive information.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Certification in compensation or in progress (e.g., CCP) is a plus.
