About the position

The Compensation Analyst position is a contract role based in Boston, MA, offering a pay rate of up to $30.50 per hour. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for three days on-site and two days remote. The primary responsibility of the Compensation Analyst is to assist in the development and administration of compensation programs across various schools, units, and departments within the organization. This role involves providing day-to-day compensation administration support, which includes reviewing and updating position descriptions, conducting market analyses, and generating reports and data to inform compensation-related decisions. In addition, the Compensation Analyst will be tasked with reviewing positions to ensure compliance with internal and external equity standards as well as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The role also requires participation in multiple compensation market surveys relevant to both the university and general industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of compensation practices and be able to apply this knowledge effectively to support the organization's compensation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day compensation administration to support schools, units, and departments.
  • Assist departments with reviewing and updating position descriptions.
  • Perform market analyses and provide reports and data for compensation-related decisions.
  • Review positions to ensure internal and external equity and FLSA compliance.
  • Conduct and participate in multiple University and General Industry compensation market surveys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in HR, business, or a related field.
  • CCP designation preferred or taking classes towards certification.
  • One to three years of human resources experience, preferably in compensation.
  • Previous higher education experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws relating to compensation and pay equity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with numbers and large volumes of data with accuracy and speed.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and HRIS systems.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and MarketPay preferred.
