About the position

The Compensation and Benefits Analyst at BHI Energy plays a crucial role in supporting the company's human resources functions by collecting and analyzing data related to compensation and benefits programs. This position is focused on enhancing processes, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and providing insights that drive decision-making in the organization. Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains files feeds for various vendors.
  • Manages payroll deductions and wellness programs to minimize health insurance costs.
  • Conducts audits of benefits packages and policies to ensure compliance with company processes.
  • Understands legal issues regarding salaries, pay equity, and leave of absence by engaging with relevant resources and networks.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position, ensuring accuracy in reflecting the work performed.
  • Ensures FLSA compliance by reviewing job duties and determining classification as exempt or nonexempt.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Provides financial and business impact analysis on changes to benefits and compensation programs.
  • Offers technical research and educational support to HR staff.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance benefit processes and improve efficiencies.
  • Stays updated on employee benefit trends and recommends changes to existing policies.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with vendors and holds them accountable for performance measures.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data, prepares HRIS reports, and completes surveys.
  • Conducts or contributes to special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in benefits processes and/or retirement planning.
  • Extensive Excel data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with file management and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding health and retirement benefits processing.
  • Experience in managing leave of absence, time-off, and compensation programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • In-depth understanding of laws governing leave such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA.
  • Excellent analytical skills for evaluating benefits and compensation programs.
  • Ability to present information clearly to managers and employees.
  • Excellent writing skills for reports and benefits information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
