About the position

The Compensation & Benefits Manager at Huhtamaki Group is responsible for leading and managing comprehensive benefits programs for 4,000 active employees and 1,500 retirees. This role ensures seamless benefits administration, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective management of compensation plans and bonus programs. The position also involves overseeing vendor relationships and leading a team of benefits professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Administer two 401(k) plans, one active Pension plan, and a non-qualified deferred compensation plan.
  • Oversee the administration of all health and welfare plans, including plan documents, communications, and compliance with 1095 reporting.
  • Ensure effective management of company and state leave policies, providing guidance on administration and compliance.
  • Oversee the administration of retiree medical, life insurance, and AD&D plans for distinct retiree groups.
  • Lead relationships with external partners, including benefits vendors and insurance brokers, negotiating contracts and managing service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, coordinating regulatory filings such as 5500 and 1095 forms.
  • Administer salary and bonus programs for salaried employees, conducting job evaluations to determine appropriate salary grades.
  • Serve as the Chairperson of the Pension Committee, maintaining governance over the charter and investment policy.
  • Lead and mentor a team of benefits professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in benefits administration, including health, welfare, and retirement plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of managerial experience.
  • Experience with pension and retiree benefit administration.
