About the position

The Compensation and Benefits Senior Analyst at Northern Trust plays a crucial role in providing analytical support to the Compensation Consulting and Reward team. This position focuses on data analysis, presentation creation, and compensation administration, ensuring effective implementation of various compensation programs. The analyst will work autonomously within established procedures, generating solutions to complex problems while serving as a liaison with third parties and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. payroll, benefits, HR partners and vendors)
  • Edit and assist with creating new job descriptions and updating existing job descriptions
  • Retrieve appropriate compensation data and create regular, ad-hoc and formal reports for multiple team members and internal clients
  • Maintain market data database, including report creation and system issue resolution
  • Administer the annual market data survey submission process
  • Analyze current business processes to reduce redundancies and identify areas for potential improvement
  • Document procedures and changes for control purposes
  • Assist in the analysis, design, and administration of organization compensation programs, including base pay and incentive pay programs.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years related compensation experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Windows-based applications with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal assistance
  • Requires advanced or specialized skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures and systems
  • Understands how related teams coordinate their efforts and resources to achieve objectives
  • Exchanged ideas and information effectively with others outside of own team and evaluates and communicates unusual and/or complex content in a clear manner.
