About the position

The Compensation & Benefits Analyst II plays a crucial role in administering and analyzing compensation programs to ensure competitive and equitable practices within the organization. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Total Rewards, this position is integral to the Human Resources team and serves as a strategic partner within the ministry. The ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of compensation principles, aligning with the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain compensation programs, including salary structures, role evaluations, and market pricing.
  • Conduct external market research and internal ministry analysis to ensure competitive and equitable compensation practices.
  • Perform bi-annual ministry-wide compensation study for all staff and executive roles.
  • Participate in salary surveys and analyze survey data to benchmark the Ministry's compensation against market trends.
  • Develop partnerships with third-party vendors used for compensation studies and maintain current agreements with these vendors.
  • Evaluate and classify jobs using established methodologies and frameworks.
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the ministry, ensuring accuracy.
  • Partner with Team Leaders to gather and document position, organizational structure, and occupational information.
  • Maintain and track job codes and budget for each position within the departments.
  • Assess positions to determine classification as exempt or non-exempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Collaborate with HR Operations, Finance, and Ministry leaders to align job classifications with Ministry goals.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to provide updated job descriptions and compensation analysis for open positions.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret HR and compensation data to support decision-making and strategy development.
  • Develop and maintain compensation databases and tools to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and presentations for Ministry Leadership.
  • Provide guidance and support to Team Members and Leadership regarding compensation-related inquiries.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on compensation topics as needed.
  • Conduct focus groups to collect employee feedback on benefits and compensation issues.
  • Research employee benefits in similar industries and recommend changes to existing policies.
  • Ensure benefits and compensation practices comply with regulations.
  • Generate, prepare, and file required compliance documentation.
  • Conduct audits to manage data accuracy and integrity.
  • Advise Leadership on applicable state and federal employment regulations and policies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compensation and benefit policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting compensation and benefits.
  • Serve as the main liaison with HRIS system and evaluation system for performance reviews.
  • Responsible for set-up, implementation, tracking, and reporting of performance evaluations throughout the year.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service to Team Members regarding HR initiatives and programs.
  • Partner with the HR team on special projects.
  • Serve as a back-up for benefits in partnership with HRIS Analyst.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mathematics or Statistics, or a combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • Certification in Compensation (CCP) preferred; Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in compensation, data analysis, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP), Compensation Management Software, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams).
  • Excellent understanding of State and Federal labor laws.
  • Knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative and flexible style with a strong service mentality.
  • Ability to work independently and be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business relationships.

  • Experience within a multi-state environment and 500+ staff is preferred.
