About the position

The Compensation and Benefits Manager at Welch Packaging Group Inc. is responsible for the strategic administration and analysis of all compensation and benefits programs, including 401(k) plans. This role also oversees HR systems and payroll functions, ensuring compliance with regulations and market trends while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, supplemental/voluntary and 401(k).
  • Administer the leave of absence program including short-term and long-term disability, FMLA leaves, and the Company's paid and unpaid leave programs.
  • Create benefit communication materials in cooperation with the internal communication team to keep employees and management informed on benefits information and changes.
  • Analyze benefits policies, government regulations, and market trends to suggest competitive benefit plans.
  • Coordinate wellness events and programs.
  • Participate in annual compliance and audit activities as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulations, and practices affecting employee benefits programs to ensure compliance.
  • Identify, research, analyze, and resolve benefits enrollment and vendor issues.
  • Perform nondiscrimination and other regulatory testing as needed.
  • Review, interpret, and maintain legal benefit plan documents for compliance with IRS/DOL regulations.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend cost-effective changes.
  • Provide advice on pay decisions, policy interpretation, and job evaluations.
  • Lead payroll processes, procedures, and audits, managing Payroll Administrators.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years' experience in Compensation and Benefits and/or Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and legislative issues impacting Benefits (COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, HSA, USERRA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with plan administration including required testing, Form 5500 preparation, and regulations related to retirement plans.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
