About the position

The Compensation Consultant at Ochsner Health is responsible for providing expert compensation consulting and resolving complex compensation inquiries for HR Business Partners, leaders, and key stakeholders. This role involves developing and implementing compensation strategies based on organizational needs while anticipating trends and their impacts. The consultant will lead compensation projects, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, contributing to the overall mission of Ochsner Health to serve and innovate in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Provides consultative advice and determines the best approach to broad issues by identifying and developing practical recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Identifies complex issues, develops creative solutions, and manages the implementation of compensation initiatives and/or issue resolution.
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results to support organizational needs.
  • Leads compensation projects by identifying data, creating project plans, and recommending solutions by presenting final recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Leads mentoring and training of staff, inspires commitment, and grows the skills of others.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 years' experience in direct and progressively consultative compensation experience.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of compensation administration principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Ability to develop reports from HRIS system, analyze data, and present findings.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including experience with formulas, VLookup, and Pivot Tables.
  • Ability to manage and/or lead multiple projects, set priorities, and work independently.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
