About the position

The Compensation Consultant at Compensation Works, a division of Alera Group, Inc., plays a vital role in supporting clients with their compensation programs. This position focuses on market pricing, design, development, and administration of compensation structures, ensuring they are competitive and equitable. The consultant will conduct comprehensive analyses, participate in program design, and collaborate with clients to enhance their compensation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of compensation programs to evaluate market competitiveness, pay equity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in the design and implementation of compensation programs, including base pay management and incentive plans.
  • Developing pay administration guidelines and modeling tools for annual compensation planning activities.
  • Designing and administering short-term incentive plans, including sales incentives.
  • Modeling the financial impact of compensation system recommendations.
  • Developing job architectures and competency models, including writing job descriptions.
  • Evaluating client programs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Participating in client meetings to review findings and ensure satisfaction.
  • Staying current with trends in compensation and providing insights to clients and team members.
  • Collaborating with team members to meet project timelines and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Developing client-facing communication materials such as presentations and training content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or human resources management.
  • At least 4 years of progressively complex experience as a compensation professional.
  • Critical attention to detail and exceptional accuracy in data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel, PowerBI, and other modeling applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to build strong relationships.
  • Practical knowledge of government regulatory guidelines related to compensation.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications such as CCP, GRP, PHR, or SHRM-CP.
  • Experience with compensation and salary survey administration software.
  • Exposure to multinational and/or start-up company compensation.
  • Experience in sales compensation administration.
  • Experience in executive compensation at public companies.
