About the position

The Compensation/HRIS Analyst will be responsible for the administration of employee compensation programs and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) within a national law firm. This role involves supporting the HR team with benefits administration, employee data management, and various HR processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HR systems, experience in compensation processes, and excellent analytical and customer service skills. A proactive approach to system improvements and best practices is essential, along with strong communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality and data security.

Responsibilities

  • Research job requirements and evaluate market-based compensation survey data to ensure competitive salaries and employee benefits.
  • Manage human resources data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability of HR systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for HR systems, collaborating with HR and IT teams for system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Assess job classifications and prepare job classifications and grades.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job and compensation analysis information using data analysis techniques.
  • Support the Director of HR Compensation and Benefits in managing annual compensation and bonus processes.
  • Perform data entry in HR management system and ensure employee data changes are accurately entered in the payroll system.
  • Process and reconcile insurance premium payments and retirement plan invoices on a monthly basis.
  • Provide technical support for HRIS-related issues and generate HR reports for decision-making.
  • Train HR staff and end-users on HRIS functionalities and assist with implementing best practices.
  • Assist with data migration and system integration projects, maintaining documentation for HRIS processes.
  • Support the benefits team during Open Enrollment with system setup, updates, and reporting.
  • Assist with ACA tracking process and reporting to the IRS.
  • Provide internal customer support related to employee benefits and coordinate with vendors for system maintenance.
  • Manage user access and permissions within the HRIS system and provide insights based on data analysis.
  • Stay updated on HR technology and compensation trends, supporting employee self-service functionalities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HRIS and compensation administration, or similar role; experience in legal or professional services is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HR compensation processes and systems.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms is required; experience with UKG, Cognos Reporting, and viDesktop is a plus.
  • Proficiency in database management and SQL queries is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Experience with data analysis, data security, and reporting tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to train and support end-users and maintain confidentiality.
