About the position

The Compensation Specialist at the University of Texas at San Antonio provides analytical and technical support for various human resource functions, focusing on compensation and classification. This role involves processing personnel forms, conducting market analysis, and ensuring compliance with compensation practices. The specialist will assist in job evaluation reviews, maintain job description repositories, and support the implementation of compensation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Compensation Analyst with gathering data for job evaluation reviews.
  • Ensure all job description additions and changes are properly reflected in the online job description repository.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of various compensation salary surveys.
  • Provide UTSA Compensation policy guidance to employees and management.
  • Assist Compensation Analyst with annual salary structure updates and other major projects.
  • Approve submitted eForms personnel action requests.
  • Audit, maintain and update database of all job descriptions according to standard functional areas.
  • Assist with implementing and updating UTSA's compensation program, including merit increases.
  • Ensure compensation practices are in compliance with federal and state laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of experience in Human Resources Compensation.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal laws regulating employee compensation.
  • Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills to understand and apply research and statistics in report writing and decision-making.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.
  • Similar experience in higher education.
  • Familiar with PeopleSoft.

Benefits

  • Salary up to $52,000 annually, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week.
