About the position

The Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP plays a crucial role in supporting the firm's business and client development efforts by conducting in-depth research and analysis. This position involves utilizing various internal and external resources to gather, synthesize, and deliver competitive intelligence information, ensuring that the firm remains informed about industry trends and client needs. The role offers a hybrid working schedule and requires collaboration with both local and virtual teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth research using Lexis Advance, Westlaw Precision, Bloomberg Law, S&P Capital IQ, Merger Market, Lex Machina, and other sources.
  • Analyze external data related to current and potential clients, industries, and practices.
  • Identify potential areas for cross-selling and promotional opportunities in providing legal services.
  • Participate in research projects in response to lawyer needs and support client pitches.
  • Monitor legal industry trends and their relevance to firm initiatives.
  • Create and distribute various CI products, including analytical reports, biographical summaries, and competitive benchmarking reports.
  • Use databases and TeamSite wiki pages to share resources and communicate with team members.
  • Uphold and promote CI industry ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a research-focused role in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced skills using research tools such as Lexis Advance, Nexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, S&P Capital IQ, Merger Market, Lex Machina, and PitchBook.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands.
