About the position

The role of the Senior Compliance Risk Analyst for Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) at Citi is pivotal in establishing and maintaining internal strategies, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with sanctions regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for assessing sanctions risk exposure, overseeing the quality of sanctions control processes, and setting global standards to manage and mitigate sanctions risks effectively. The analyst will play a crucial role in collating potential breaches of sanctions across the firm and will work closely with contacts in the Business and Compliance sectors to ensure the consistent application and implementation of relevant global standards, policies, and procedures. In this position, the analyst will analyze comparative data and prepare regional and global reports related to sanctions risk assessments. They will monitor sanctions-related issues and escalations, providing insights to senior management and global partners. The role involves supporting a specialized team of ICRM officers in executing program activities and contributing to the design and maintenance of a comprehensive ICRM Sanctions Framework, which includes standards and policies. The analyst will partner with functional partners and key stakeholders to identify potential risks during due diligence and escalate significant instances of non-adherence to the Chief Sanctions Officer. Additionally, the analyst will monitor adherence to Citi's Global Sanctions Policy and relevant procedures, staying updated on key sanctions regulatory changes and industry trends. They will interact with various teams to raise awareness of sanctions trends and emerging issues, supporting efforts in connection with Internal Audit and functional regulators during program exams and evaluations. The role also includes drafting and editing sanctions-related reference materials and participating in sanctions training programs. Overall, the analyst must demonstrate sound ethical judgment and a commitment to safeguarding Citigroup's reputation and assets by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing comparative data and preparing regional and global reports related to sanctions risk assessments.

  • Contributing to the design and maintenance of a comprehensive written ICRM Sanctions Framework (standards and policies).
  • Partnering with functional partners and key stakeholders to ensure potential risks are identified and addressed.
  • Identifying and escalating material risks and significant instances of non-adherence to the Chief Sanctions Officer.
  • Monitoring adherence to Citi's Global Sanctions Policy and relevant procedures.
  • Staying current on key sanctions regulatory changes and industry trends.
  • Overseeing adherence to procedures and processes to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Interacting with relevant teams to raise awareness of sanctions trends and emerging issues.
  • Supporting efforts in connection with Internal Audit and functional regulators during program exams and evaluations.
  • Drafting and editing sanctions-related reference materials and supporting electronic record-keeping logs.
  • Participating in sanctions training programs.

Requirements

  • Preferably expertise in AML and Sanctions regulations, risks, and typologies.
  • Knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks, and typologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, flexible, innovative, and adaptive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization and work collaboratively with regional and global partners.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree; experience in compliance, legal, or other control-related functions in financial services, regulatory organizations, or legal/consulting firms; advanced degree preferred.
