About the position

The Complex Claims Consultant at CNA Insurance is responsible for managing high complexity and exposure Financial Lines claims, particularly those related to professional liability for life agents, broker-dealers, and investment advisors. This role involves investigating claims, verifying coverage, and collaborating with various stakeholders to negotiate settlements and ensure exceptional customer service. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently within defined authority limits.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an inventory of high complexity and exposure Financial Lines claims according to company protocols.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim and interacting professionally with insureds and claimants.
  • Verify coverage and establish timely reserves by reviewing policy language and partnering with coverage counsel.
  • Conduct focused investigations to determine compensability, liability, and covered damages by gathering pertinent information.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners to effectively resolve claims.
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop and execute claim resolution strategies, including negotiating settlements and managing litigation.
  • Establish and manage claim budgets by achieving timely resolution and delivering high-quality service.
  • Address subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences by evaluating claims and making referrals as necessary.
  • Keep senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses by preparing and presenting summaries.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Juris Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum six years of relevant experience in Professional Liability claim handling or law firm experience in Professional Liability matters.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire.
  • Prior negotiation experience.
  • Advanced technical and product-specific expertise in claims resolution.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated analytical and investigative mindset with critical thinking skills.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
