About the position

The position of Director of Sales is a full-time role that reports directly to the General Manager. This role is pivotal in generating the budgeted top-line revenue and RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) for the hotel through a successful revenue management strategy. The Director of Sales will oversee the sales team, which includes the Director of Catering, Sales Managers, Reservations Manager, and Sales Administrative Assistants for both Springhill Suites and Marriott properties. The primary objective is to lead the sales staff effectively, ensuring that the hotel meets its revenue goals through strategic planning and execution. In this role, the Director of Sales will be responsible for leading, training, and mentoring the sales staff. This includes hiring, coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and managing disciplinary actions and terminations. The Director will act as the driving force behind all revenue initiatives, ensuring that quarterly and annual revenue goals are achieved. This involves developing sales action plans, forecasting, and evaluating trends to modify strategies that enhance revenues effectively. The Director will also ensure the hotel participates in all brand revenue management initiatives and assist in the production of the annual hotel business plan. Additionally, the Director of Sales will develop and maintain the departmental budget, lead property revenue meetings, and ensure revenue maximization and profit in all areas. Adherence to hotel credit procedures and audit guidelines is essential, along with the timely submission of required reports to the General Manager, Regional Vice President, and DDC Corporate Office. Building and maintaining good rapport with local civic groups and companies, as well as developing strong relationships with DDC Corporate Sales & Marketing staff, are also key components of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years hotel sales experience or equivalent industry experience; OR equivalent level of education and work experience.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive to customer appointments.
