About the position

The Complex Project Engineer at Johnson Controls is responsible for leading the execution of complex HVAC equipment projects across the U.S. This role involves managing project profitability, customer satisfaction, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. The position requires collaboration with sales teams and project managers to balance customer needs with financial results, while also interpreting engineering specifications and managing project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project Profit and Loss (P&L) and customer satisfaction for all assigned projects.
  • Work closely with branch administrations to manage backlog execution and project scheduling.
  • Manage the project turnover process between equipment sales and order execution.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop engineered equipment submittals.
  • Follow standardized guidelines for preparation and processing of engineering submittals.
  • Evaluate contractual scope of supply and impacts of client-issued changes.
  • Coordinate with project team members to manage cross-scope items for project success.
  • Perform cost estimates, prepare proposals, and negotiate final settlement prices with customers.
  • Generate technical content for Purchase Orders and track delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate with logistics to meet project schedule requirements and review equipment order status reports.
  • Ensure project documentation complies with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards.
  • Coordinate customer training requirements with local service teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible operations management experience in the Building Construction Industry.
  • At least two years of direct project management and HVAC Equipment Design experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large complex projects with extensive execution teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
