About the position

The Compliance and Legal Operations Manager at Contentstack is responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and legal requirements while optimizing the efficiency of legal and compliance functions. This role involves implementing compliance programs, managing legal operations, and aligning risk management and legal processes with business goals. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who simplifies compliance initiatives to prevent disruptions and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and compliance training across the organization.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise senior management on necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the legal department's operations to drive efficiencies and manage resources.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for timely contract review, approval, and execution.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships, including tracking legal budgets and invoices.
  • Draft, update, and enforce internal policies and procedures reflecting current regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement policies that support business operations and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees and management.
  • Increase awareness of compliance and ethical standards through education and communication campaigns.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential compliance and legal risks, escalating critical issues to executive leadership.
  • Develop frameworks for reporting compliance incidents and tracking resolution efforts.
  • Serve as a point of contact for data privacy matters, ensuring data protection practices align with legal standards.
  • Partner with internal departments to address data security risks and oversee cross-functional privacy-related projects.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in compliance and legal operations, particularly in Project or Program Management in a SaaS environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as GDPR and CCPA, and experience with ISO 27001 and SOC audits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and similar program management tools.
  • Proficiency with legal software and tools (e.g., contract management, document management, compliance tracking software).
  • Great attention to detail and ability to resolve complex multi-departmental issues.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in establishing proper and transparent program metrics for tracking progress and detecting bottlenecks.
  • Experience working with a geographically distributed team.
  • Comfortable communicating with executive management and cross-functional teams.
