The Risk Manager at Bank of America is responsible for assessing risks and ensuring compliance with operational risk management practices within Global Technology. This role involves executing compliance oversight, managing risks, and providing independent advice to stakeholders while ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

  • Assesses risks and effectiveness of Front Line Unit (FLU) processes and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Engages in activities to provide independent compliance and operational risk oversight of FLU or Control Function (CF) performance and related third party/vendor relationships.
  • Identifies and escalates problems or issues that arise and drives actions to address the root causes of compliance risk issues and operational risk losses.
  • Manages inventory of processes, risks, controls, and associated metrics for risk appetite and limits, reporting violations of compliance or regulatory activities.
  • Assists in the development of independent risk management reporting for respective area(s) of coverage as input into country/regional governance and management routines.
  • Analyzes and interprets applicable laws, rules, and regulations to provide clear and practical advice to stakeholders, and identify and manage risks.
  • Reviews and challenges FLU/CF process, risk, Single Process Inventory, and FLU/CF Risk and Control Self-Assessment related to themes or trends.
  • 7+ years of technology experience with a focus on software architecture, software engineering, technology management, or other relevant discipline.
  • In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle, change management process, and commonly used CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with software development or design, including security, resiliency, and maintainability of applications.
  • Understanding of functional and non-functional requirements, business objectives for software, and technology strategy and planning.
  • Prior hands-on experience developing, deploying, and operating software applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to data management and data architecture.
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF is also preferable.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Additional Technical/Functional Experience in Financial Services or similarly regulated sector.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and shape opinions and actions of others.
  • Experience in constructive challenging and supporting opinions with facts and data.
