About the position

The Compliance and Privacy Analyst at National Jewish Health is responsible for supporting the institution's compliance and privacy management functions. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures related to the privacy of protected health information (PHI) and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with federal and state laws. The Analyst serves as a key resource for privacy and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to legal standards and organizational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance and privacy policies.
  • Investigate privacy incidents and compliance reported events, providing recommendations.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and summarize findings.
  • Participate in investigations and corrective actions with relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with external agencies on documentation requests and audit preparations.
  • Perform privacy surveillance of electronic medical record systems and maintain privacy files.
  • Assist in managing business associate agreements and regulatory notifications.
  • Contribute to policy development and revisions, recommending updates as necessary.
  • Stay current on federal and state privacy laws and advancements in information privacy technologies.
  • Assist in departmental initiatives like data governance and contract management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in compliance, privacy, audit, health information management, or legal support in a healthcare setting required.
  • Certification in Health Care Privacy and/or Compliance preferred (HCCA or IAPP).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices.
  • Familiarity with contract management and compliance reviews.
