About the position

The Compliance Audit Nurse at the Medical Clinic of Houston is responsible for establishing and maintaining internal controls related to asset protection and ensuring adherence to compliance plans, Medicare regulations, and HIPAA privacy compliance. This role involves conducting compliance audits, developing training programs, and managing compliance with various healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts compliance audits including random chart audits according to established criteria.
  • Develops and ensures annual compliance training for physicians and staff.
  • Responds to violations of the Compliance Plan and reports issues to the Executive Administrator or Managing Partner.
  • Works with the Compliance Committee to identify compliance risks and develop an annual compliance assessment plan.
  • Reports quarterly to the Compliance Committee and Executive Committee on the effectiveness of the Compliance Plan.
  • Manages compliance with HIPAA regulations and oversees Business Associate Agreements.
  • Develops and maintains Compliance Program policies and the Code of Conduct.
  • Oversees pay-for-performance and Meaningful Use programs including MIPS.
  • Establishes appropriate internal controls and adheres to Compliance Plan policies.
  • Participates in Clinic committees to improve services and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing.
  • Unrestricted or compact license to practice in Texas.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare compliance and/or risk management.
  • Experience with EPIC software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and statistical analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and telephone etiquette.
  • Strong customer service and satisfaction skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience in training healthcare staff.
