About the position

The Compliance Consultant for Employee Benefits at HMA Group Holdings, LLC is responsible for providing expert compliance guidance on employee benefit programs. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and clients to ensure adherence to federal and state laws, including ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA. The consultant will develop educational tools, facilitate compliance reviews, and track legislative changes impacting employee benefits, all while promoting a supportive and innovative company culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance guidance regarding applicable federal and state laws affecting employee benefit plans.
  • Develop and maintain internal educational tools for health and welfare employee benefits compliance.
  • Participate in and lead meetings regarding employee benefits compliance questions and issues.
  • Facilitate compliance reviews and recommend adjustments to clients to maintain legal compliance.
  • Create and deliver educational content for employees on legal and regulatory developments.
  • Assist the compliance team with monitoring vendor performance and resolving service issues.
  • Track healthcare-related legislation and provide analysis on changes impacting the business and clients.
  • Conduct general legal research for the company and affiliated entities.
  • Provide strategic support to leadership and function as part of the employee benefits team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-6 years of ERISA and Employee Benefits compliance experience.
  • JD and licensed in good standing; active state bar license recommended.
  • Experience drafting white papers on benefits compliance issues.
  • Strong public speaking skills and experience in developing training content.
  • Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products and systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience at a carrier or broker agency firm.
  • Labor & Employment Law experience.
