About the position

The Compliance Director at Caterpillar, Inc. is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs across the enterprise. This role involves guiding the management team on compliance matters, identifying compliance vulnerabilities, and ensuring adherence to evolving regulations, particularly in the area of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. The Compliance Director will also oversee a team, implement training programs, and develop strategies to mitigate compliance risks while ensuring accurate reporting and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance and ethics initiatives for the division, segment, or enterprise.
  • Lead the identification of relevant compliance issues within the organization.
  • Develop, initiate, and revise policies and procedures for the compliance program.
  • Review compliance program data and metrics and maintain relationships with business partners.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, developing corrective action plans.
  • Keep the organization informed of evolving ESG-related regulations and standards.
  • Guide procurement & supply chain on ESG data collection strategy and priorities.
  • Oversee and develop ESG team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Implement training programs to increase ESG awareness across the organization.
  • Design and execute ESG strategies aligned with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and update ESG-related policies and procedures.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for ESG performance.
  • Identify and assess ESG-related risks and opportunities.
  • Use ESG data management and analytics tools for reporting and compliance.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in compliance and risk management, particularly in ESG-related areas.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide teams.
  • Proficient in data management systems and reporting software for ESG metrics.
  • Excellent decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong influencing skills to impact decisions at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinking capability to align compliance initiatives with business goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ESG reporting and compliance software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in compliance and risk management.
  • Advanced degree in law, business, or a related field.
