About the position

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Product Compliance Engineer to join the Hardware development team in Santa Clara, California. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all products meet the necessary compliance standards across various regulatory frameworks. The engineer will work collaboratively across the company to provide product compliance support for all of Palo Alto Networks' platforms. The individual will leverage their extensive industry experience in regulatory compliance for Industrial Standards, including safety, EMC, NEBS, MDVT, and other product compliance areas, to ensure that products meet worldwide regulatory requirements. The Product Compliance Engineer will collaborate closely with the product management team to ensure that all worldwide country certifications and requirements are met and maintained, aligning with the company's product target market objectives. This includes developing compliance test plans for new products, procuring hardware, setting up equipment, and interfacing with software teams to configure equipment for compliance testing. The engineer will also conduct design verification testing on new product introductions (NPI) and changes to legacy products, ensuring that all product changes meet the original required certifications and defining any necessary re-testing or re-certification based on product changes. In addition, the engineer will interface with external test labs for quotations, scheduling, and executing required product certification testing, ensuring that all product certifications are issued, recorded, and kept current. They will support customer requests for evidentiary proof of product verification and certifications, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining high standards of product compliance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with the product management team to ensure all worldwide country certifications and requirements are met and maintained.
  • Develop a compliance test plan for new products to ensure product compliance requirements are met globally.
  • Procure hardware, setup equipment and interface with software teams to configure equipment for compliance testing.
  • Conduct design verification testing on NPI and changes to legacy products.
  • Interface with external test labs for quotation, scheduling, and executing required product certification testing with report.
  • Work through appropriate agencies to ensure product certifications are issued, recorded, and kept current.
  • Ensure all product changes meet all original required product certifications; Define any required re-testing and/or re-certification based on product changes through to end-of-life.
  • Support requests from customers for evidentiary proof of product verification and certifications.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of product safety and regulatory requirements as they apply to network equipment, including FCC (Class A and Class B), CE, VCCI, product safety (UL, CSA, TUV, NRTL), telecom homologation standards where applicable, telecom carrier requirements (NEBS, Verizon, AT&T), for both wired and wireless networking interfaces.
  • Experience and knowledge of major international telecommunications regulatory regulations and requirements and the methodology and strategies for obtaining worldwide certifications (BSMI, CCC, KCC, VCCI, Anatel, and other major countries in a cost-effective manner).
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and a highly collaborative working style is necessary.
  • Project management of all aspects from funding, procuring hardware, setup and configuration, interfacing with labs and worldwide agencies, resolving issues and obtaining formal approvals to compliance standards.
  • Support Program Manager to address customer concerns on environmental standards-related questions.
  • Support sustaining team when environmental standards-related technical issues arise.
  • Provide Electrical and Mechanical engineer first-level debugging when an MDVT issue arises and provide manufacturable solution suggestions to the team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability for complex problems, technically and operationally.
  • Experience in working with supply chain vendors to obtain regulatory approval documents for sub-systems.
  • Strong skills using mainstream PC tools and industry-prevalent business tools (Arena, Oracle, SAP, Arena, and others) to execute on business objectives.
  • Minimum BS Master degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive and proven experience in leading/managing broad product compliance in the computer networking industry.
