About the position

The Compliance Officer at Intermountain Health is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Compliance Program. This role involves ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations, conducting investigations, providing education, assessing risks, and monitoring compliance outcomes across care sites and shared services. The position is hybrid, requiring travel to the Southern Utah and Nevada regions, and is accountable for executing compliance monitoring and auditing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex investigations and projects within assigned care sites or shared services areas.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and identify risks, supporting corrective action plans across care sites.
  • Implement regulatory requirements through various projects and assignments.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Cycle on external government compliance audits and investigations.
  • Identify compliance vulnerabilities through risk assessments and ongoing monitoring.
  • Track compliance issue trends and provide input to the Compliance Work Plan.
  • Execute vision and strategic priorities linking compliance activities to objectives.
  • Support the implementation of Intermountain's HIPAA Privacy Program and conduct privacy audits.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ethics to reduce risks of audits and penalties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional-level experience in a regulatory, compliance, or risk management role in healthcare.
  • Expert knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex healthcare regulations and assess gaps.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Discretion to maintain confidentiality and make effective decisions.
  • Experience implementing the eight elements of an effective compliance program.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare billing, coding, reimbursement, and contracting.
  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring tools and methodologies.
