About the position

LivaNova is seeking a Compliance Operations Director to join our team and make a significant impact on our global compliance program. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our compliance operations align with the highest standards of ethics and integrity, particularly within the medical technology sector. The Compliance Operations Director will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program that spans across all business units and regions where LivaNova operates. In this role, the Compliance Operations Director will conduct global corporate risk assessments and maintain an accurate risk register, ensuring that the company stays informed about evolving external requirements worldwide. This includes identifying gaps and areas for improvement in our compliance practices. The director will also manage compliance and enterprise risk mitigation strategies, leading LivaNova's Third Party Risk Management Program and ensuring that our systems and third-party providers are continuously evolving to meet the needs of our business operations. The Compliance Operations Director will work closely with identified risk owners to develop effective risk mitigation strategies and track their progress over time. Additionally, the director will oversee LivaNova's Trade Compliance program, enhancing it based on external requirements and monitoring its execution. This position will also involve supporting the CCO in strategic, risk-based planning of yearly activities and goals, leading projects aimed at enhancing the compliance program, and aligning with compliance officers to stay updated on changes in the legal and regulatory landscape. The role will require responding to internal and external auditors' inquiries and reviewing relevant sections of the company's reports. This position will require business travel, reflecting the global nature of our operations and the need for the Compliance Operations Director to engage with various stakeholders across different regions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the company's global compliance program.
  • Conduct global corporate risk assessments and maintain a current and accurate risk register.
  • Manage compliance and enterprise risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead LivaNova's Third Party Risk Management Program and evolve it based on business operations.
  • Work with identified risk owners to develop risk mitigation strategies and track progress.
  • Oversee LivaNova's Trade Compliance program and enhance it based on external requirements.
  • Support the CCO in strategic, risk-based planning of yearly activities and goals.
  • Lead projects related to the enhancement of LivaNova's compliance program across all elements and regions.
  • Align with CCO and Compliance Officers to stay updated on changes in the legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Respond to internal and external auditors' inquiries regarding the compliance program.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in compliance, risk, or internal auditing & controlling, preferably in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in project/program management, including implementation and ownership of company-wide solutions and systems.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations affecting healthcare/manufacturing companies.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex procedures and regulations.
  • Business acumen combined with a dedication to ethics and integrity.
  • Methodical and diligent with excellent planning and prioritization abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Collaborative, problem-solving attitude with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different working styles that vary by culture and individual.
