About the position

The Compliance/Privacy Officer at Summa Health Systems is responsible for managing, developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, processes, training, corrective action plans, and overall operations to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting Summa Health. This role involves working collaboratively with management and other personnel to ensure that compliance and privacy initiatives are effectively implemented across all Summa Health entities. The officer will lead efforts to implement, monitor, and track Compliance Program elements to ensure adherence to industry regulations, system policies, Federal Sentencing Guidelines, accreditation standards, and state-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop compliance policies and procedures.
  • Implement and monitor compliance training and corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure compliance initiatives are executed across all entities.
  • Lead efforts in monitoring and tracking Compliance Program elements.
  • Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations affecting healthcare compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Four years of relevant experience in healthcare operations, compliance administration, auditing, and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, DHHS, DOJ, OCR, and OIG guidance for healthcare compliance.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Reimbursement System and billing and coding rules.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management System - Health Stream.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and monitoring activities related to compliance risks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a self-directed team.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and/or Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
  • Experience interacting with patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
