About the position

The Compliance Program Manager at Lumio Dental is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs within dental practices to ensure adherence to healthcare laws and regulations. This role involves conducting audits, addressing compliance issues, and training staff on compliance topics while collaborating with senior management and regulatory bodies. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor effective compliance programs for the dental organization.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and state-specific dental standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of patient records, billing processes, and practice operations to identify compliance risks or areas of vulnerability.
  • Address potential compliance issues and develop corrective action plans to resolve compliance challenges.
  • Train and educate staff on compliance-related topics, including clinical procedures, safety protocols, and relevant laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in dental healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, ensuring the practice remains compliant.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on the progress and status of compliance efforts.
  • Work with regulatory bodies, internal auditors, and healthcare agencies during compliance reviews and audits.
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA regulations, particularly regarding sterilization, infection control, and workplace safety.
  • Ensure that the organization adheres to all HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
  • Manage state-specific radiation safety and dental OSHA standards compliance.
  • Coordinate with preferred compliance vendors for routine inspections and compliance-related services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare compliance role preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • HIPAA Certification (Certified HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance - CHPSC).
  • Experience with clinical back-office functions, including sterilization, medication ordering, and infection control.
  • Familiarity with state-specific radiation and dental OSHA regulations.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal dental healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Ability to perform detailed audits and manage complex compliance programs.
