About the position

As a Line of Business (LOB) Asset Management Compliance Vice President at JPMorgan Chase, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the firm operates within the regulatory framework while supporting its business objectives. Your primary focus will be on providing expert guidance to various business units regarding regulatory matters, particularly in the areas of equities and fixed income securities. You will develop a deep understanding of trading practices and the associated rules and regulations, advising Product Groups such as Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, and Traders on trade-related issues. This includes navigating complex matters such as cross trading, trading with affiliates, allocations and reallocations, remediating trading errors, and addressing conflicts of interest. In this role, you will also assess regulatory changes and their impact on the business, ensuring that the firm remains compliant with evolving regulations. You will conduct compliance training sessions and draft compliance bulletins to educate business counterparts on relevant policies and procedures. Additionally, you will handle trade alerts escalated from Trade Surveillance and manage reporting and escalation to the Market Conduct Violation Program. Your responsibilities will extend to managing trade-related policies, updating compliance desk procedures, and responding to business inquiries regarding policy matters. You will identify processes that are ripe for automation and provide guidance on critical controls within business procedures. Supporting the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) compliance program will be essential, as you will drive testing and monitoring plans, complete risk assessment challenges, and contribute to the annual CCO report while assisting with regulatory exams. Furthermore, you will assist the Investment Specialist Teams with info barrier issues, client due diligence meetings, RFPs, and Client Agreements. Developing metrics and compliance updates for governance forums will be part of your duties, as will understanding product strategies and identifying risks associated with product and operational support. Collaboration with colleagues in the Compliance, Conduct, and Operational Risk (CCOR) team will be vital to promote best practices and consistency across asset classes and regions, ensuring effective challenge, guidance, and advice in coordination with legal and operational risk teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop subject matter expertise in equities and fixed income securities and trading practices, as well as related rules & regulations; advise Product Groups (Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts and Traders) on trade-related issues.
  • Assess regulatory changes and their impact on business.
  • Conduct Compliance Training and draft Compliance Bulletins to educate business counterparts.
  • Handle trade alerts escalated from Trade Surveillance and manage reporting/escalation to the Market Conduct Violation Program.
  • Manage Info Barrier Issues particular to Traders and PMs, such as contact with JPMS Syndicate and inter-affiliate info barriers.
  • Manage trade-related policies and update related compliance desk procedures; respond to business inquiries regarding policy-related matters; identify processes ripe for automation.
  • Understand business procedures and provide guidance on critical controls.
  • Support the CCO compliance program; drive testing and monitoring plans, complete risk assessment challenges, provide input to the annual CCO report, and assist with regulatory exams.
  • Assist with support of the Investment Specialist Teams including info barrier issues, client due diligence meetings, RFPs, and Client Agreements.
  • Develop metrics and compliance updates for governance forums.
  • Develop an understanding of product strategies and vehicles to assess and identify risks associated with product and operational support; work to find technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in CCOR to promote best practices and consistency across asset classes and regions; coordinate with functional team members in operational risk and legal to provide effective challenge, guidance, and advice.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of risk management, compliance or financial services experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with concentrations in Math, Finance, Statistics, Economics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Data mining skills, specifically: SAS, SQL, Python, Excel, Microsoft Office, and database software applications
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and a changing environment
  • Independent decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated experience in applying analytics to solve business problems efficiently and pragmatically through structured problem-solving approaches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior financial services experience in compliance is preferred
  • MS, Law degree or MBA a plus
