About the position

The Compliance Specialist at Hauge Associates, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the company's adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role involves managing consumer dispute processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with various departments to enhance compliance and efficiency. The position requires a solid understanding of consumer financial protection laws and experience in healthcare or collections regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coordination and oversight of the company's consumer dispute management program.
  • Oversee and manage consumer complaints, ensuring appropriate investigations and responses.
  • Ensure compliance with data furnishing processes to credit reporting agencies according to Metro2 guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing audits and reviews, analyzing exceptions to recommend improvements.
  • Create clear and accurate written reports summarizing testing findings for management.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements related to dispute management.
  • Review existing and proposed legislation and regulations for applicability to the company.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance-related policies and procedures.
  • Implement and train staff on new processes, rules, or regulations.
  • Work with Collections departments to communicate updates on consumer disputes and collection practices.
  • Manage and oversee assigned third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide continuous improvement strategies.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous compliance experience required.
  • Collections and/or healthcare compliance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of CFPB rules and regulations, FDCPA, FCRA, HIPAA, Reg V, TCPA is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory guidance effectively.
  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to coordinate across departments.
  • Proven ability to draft procedures and evaluate internal controls.
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
  • Post-secondary education required.
  • 1 - 3 years relevant experience required.
  • Ability to speak/write English clearly and proficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • SharePoint experience is a plus.
