About the position

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a design authority for an engineering discipline. Each day, you will complete assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. The work model for the role is onsite, contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in North America. You will be mainly accountable for several key areas including evaluation and testing, knowledge management, supplier integration and management, and collaboration and communication. In evaluation and testing, you will assess the quality, reliability, and compatibility of different components through testing, analysis, and collaboration with engineering and suppliers. This includes performing supplier capability and capacity analysis to make sourcing decisions and recommendations. In terms of knowledge management, you will develop guidelines and procedures on component selection, evaluate supplier change or end-of-life notifications as needed, and maintain component data management systems including qualification records, results, and documentation. Your role will also involve supplier integration and management, where you will collaborate with product line and quality teams to ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements, resolve any issues related to component manufacturing, and identify potential alternative suppliers. You will lead make vs. buy decision analyses and support outside processing management when outsourcing is desired. Finally, you will be responsible for collaboration and communication, working closely with engineering, product line, quality, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth coordination and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop guidelines and procedures on component selection and maintain component data management systems.
  • Collaborate with product line and quality teams to ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Resolve issues related to component manufacturing and identify potential alternative suppliers.
  • Lead make vs. buy decision analyses and support outside processing management when outsourcing is desired.
  • Work closely with engineering, product line, quality, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure effective communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronic preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes of electrical and electronic components like PCBAs, transformers, insulators, and IGBTs.
  • Experience with evaluation and qualification of electrical/electronic component manufacturers.
  • Ability to discuss designs with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacture and assess supplier capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze material cost breakdowns and accuracy based on market values.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Windchill PLM systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of should costing model or process improvement tools and techniques (DFA, DFM, DtV) is an advantage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced energy-efficient UPS solutions.
  • Familiarity with energy distribution solutions for data centers and industrial plants.
