About the position

The Component Test Enabling Hardware (CTEH) - Lead Engineer is responsible for designing unique hardware in a virtual environment and overseeing its development from concept through manufacturing, assembly, and testing. This role involves applying mechanical design principles to create reliable solutions that deliver quality data for jet engine component testing. The engineer will work on complex products and systems, focusing on continuous improvement and technical maturity of new products.

Responsibilities

  • Executes the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis using ANSYS or equivalent.
  • Experienced with NX software or equivalent CAD software.
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T principles, and tolerance stacks.
  • Ability to complete simple structural, thermal and fluid flow hand calculations.
  • Collaborates with other support organizations including tradesmen for the fabrication of components related to mechanical rigs, sourcing/vendors for procurement of component design and off-the-shelf hardware, and test operations for setup and execution of test campaign.
  • Contributes to department initiatives to drive continuous improvement, Lean, and standard work.
  • Participates as a presenter in technical and program level project reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable engineering experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes;
  • Project management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functional boundaries;
  • Passion for engineering of unique aerospace hardware;
  • Computer Skills - Comfortable with email, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
