About the position

The Composite Shop Manager (Aerospace) at Mission Critical Composites is responsible for overseeing the production organization and composite team in the manufacture and assembly of composite products. This role focuses on delivering high-quality products while maximizing company profits and requires a strong background in lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement. The manager will lead a team, ensure compliance with quality standards, and coordinate with various departments to achieve strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective utilization of short to medium term planning activities such as area-set up, equipment capacity and material flow.
  • Directly leads processes that minimize manufacturing costs while ensuring composite shop is staffed appropriately and achieving schedules produced by Master Scheduler.
  • Ensures that all equipment, materials, tools and processes used are maintained while all production standards are followed by partnering with Quality Department and utilization of QMS.
  • Leads project activities and directs, coaches, mentors, employees in the fabrication of composite parts.
  • Conduct regularly Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) to continuously improve business.
  • Communicate and coordinate with leadership from cross functional groups on strategic initiatives and risk management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain tooling management ensuring efficiency and following QMS standards.
  • Develop, train, and maintain KPIs, on-time delivery, and performance evaluations.
  • Accountable and responsible for ensuring that personnel are following QMS, procedures and all quality requirements along with taking appropriate action to meet requirements.
  • Reviews all work orders to assure technical accuracy and quality accuracy of production meets customer requirements, engineering design expectations as documented in the work orders, blueprints, bills of material, work instructions and quality documentation.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through review of completed work assignments, work techniques, leadership skills, accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for managing personnel development and growth by assigning training while testing competencies and capabilities to reach business expectations.
  • Manages assignment of fabrication team and allocates personnel appropriately to each assignment through verification of skill sets, competencies and other factors, creating a fair opportunity for all.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive Management experience in an Aerospace Organization
  • Ability to facilitate a corrective action board.
  • 10+ years of experience working with ISO 9000, AS9100, commercial and military aerospace.
  • 10+ years of composite manufacturing, production engineering and related activity
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and organization challenges
  • Expert computer knowledge in Microsoft Windows software application and other applications.
