About the position

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician I plays a crucial role in the preparation and compounding of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is essential for maintaining high safety and precision standards in medication preparation, working primarily in a clean room environment. The technician will engage in various responsibilities including compounding prescriptions, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with health policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies according to Option Care Health policies and state regulations.
• Ensure medications are accurately compounded and labeled.
• Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations to obtain correct dosages.
• Participate in the management and reporting of medication-related incidents.
• Clean and sanitize pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods regularly.
• Inspect equipment and document any failures or defects.
• Record and maintain pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
• Must be licensed or registered (if required by the state).
• Customer service experience, ensuring quality standards and customer satisfaction.
• Proficiency in basic and intermediate mathematical calculations.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Successful enrollment and completion of Option Care Health's designated training course within 6 months of hire (if required by state regulations).
• Previous healthcare or pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
