About the position

This position involves managing various financial responsibilities for the Village, including payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. The role is crucial for ensuring compliance with state and federal tax obligations and maintaining accurate financial records for the Village Board and public access.

Responsibilities

  • Complete bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Complete workpapers and other financial reports.
  • Complete monthly budget reports for departments.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial report to the Village Board.
  • Prepare and process payroll.
  • Comply with all tax, benefits, and other related payroll obligations from the State and Federal level, including completion of 941 quarterly reports and SUTA reports.
  • Complete monthly WRS reporting and annual reconciliation.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of health, life, and other benefit general ledger accounts.
  • Complete annual W-2 reporting.
  • Serve as the miPayOnline administrator.
  • Maintain payroll records.
  • Assist departments with creation of budget worksheet and memos.
  • Maintain online module available to the public to view financial records.
  • Evaluate allocation of charges for items or services purchased.
  • Collect property taxes for the Village and other taxing entities.
  • Coordinate tax settlements to other taxing authorities with the County Treasurer's Office.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial reporting and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and tax compliance.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and online modules.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with municipal finance or government accounting.
  • Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial planning.
  • Strong communication skills for assisting departments and public inquiries.
