About the position

The Construction Comptroller at JFB Construction & Development is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of residential and commercial construction projects. This role ensures adherence to budgets, controls expenses, and guarantees accurate and timely financial reporting. The Comptroller plays a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and strategy, collaborating with project teams and senior leadership to maintain financial health across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the financial operations of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for senior management.
  • Process and review AIA payment applications and construction contracts.
  • Analyze project costs, track expenses, and ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow, review contracts, and manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Provide regular financial analysis to project managers and executives, offering actionable insights for cost optimization and profitability.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project bids and contracts to ensure accurate cost estimations.
  • Identify financial risks and provide solutions to mitigate them.
  • Supervise and train junior accounting staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction finance or accounting role, with a strong understanding of construction cost accounting.
  • Proficiency in processing and reviewing AIA payment applications and construction contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and discrepancies in financial data.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, project accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Preferred SEC reporting knowledge
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification
  • Advanced knowledge of AIA contract documents and payment application procedures.
