About the position

BoatJunkie Sales and Service is seeking an experienced Comptroller responsible for overseeing all phases of the accounting process. The role focuses on maintaining the financial health of the company, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The Comptroller will also mentor the accounting team and contribute to the company's growth by providing financial insights that align with the company's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on all details of our company Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while serving customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Responsible for all phases of the accounting process up to and including closing the month end books together with all corresponding accounts reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly/yearly financial statements and reports, 1099 reporting, quarterly, yearly payroll taxes and preparation of property tax returns.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Responsible for job costing, fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules.
  • Maintain the General Ledger accounts and related supporting work papers.
  • Maintain and supervise floor plan credit lines with partnering financial institutions.
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of a daily cash flow report.
  • Assist with timely processing of payrolls, accounts payable checks, tax payments, etc.
  • Supervise and assist as needed with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll personnel.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required including general bookkeeping responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist the Management Team in advancing the accounting and operational processes.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and take action to improve low performance areas.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance overall efficiency.
  • Mentor and coach accounting team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with banks, finance institutions, and partners.
  • Create custom reports and spreadsheets to analyze business data.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end departmental financial reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5-10 years of experience in financial management or accounting role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
