About the position

The Computer Engineering Researcher position focuses on researching and developing innovative hardware solutions for significant national challenges. The role involves collaboration with peers, proposing innovations, developing prototypes, and publishing research findings. The researcher will work on advanced computer architectures and applied research programs funded by prominent sponsors, contributing to cutting-edge government-funded research with strong academic ties.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop new hardware solutions for national importance problems.
• Collaborate with peers within the group and across the organization.
• Propose major innovations and develop prototypes.
• Oversee laboratory demonstrations and publish results in top-tier conferences.
• Craft ideas into winning proposals for research funding.
• Develop advanced computer architectures and implement designs on applied research programs.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• High-quality publications related to computer architecture, chip design, or prototyping.
• Strong computer hardware design experience (Verilog/System Verilog/VHDL).
• Experience with system modeling using Python, C++, or other programming languages.
• Ability to work on-site in Seven Corners, VA on a hybrid basis.
• Willingness to apply for a Top Secret clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience contributing to proposals.
• Experience with FPGA-based development or application mapping.
• Adeptness with EDA tools and scripting.
• Understanding of graph-based algorithms or other EDA algorithms.
• Experience with neuromorphic or other non-von Neumann approaches.
