The Computer Assistant (Scheduler/Production Controller) position at the Department of the Treasury involves planning, scheduling, and controlling the processing of tax data on major corporate and departmental computer systems. Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and control the processing of tax data on major corporate and departmental computer systems.
  • Analyze and evaluate requirements for computer processing by identifying workflow and sequence, equipment and capacity requirements, and job interrelationships.
  • Review system reports and logs to identify scheduling conflicts, processing problems, or job failures and determine corrective actions.
  • Ensure correct restoration of data files and databases to the proper restart point.
  • Receive program additions, deletions, and changes from programmers and various external sources.
  • Evaluate systems change requests to determine modifications to existing setups, schedules, run streams, and dependencies with other systems and programs.
  • May serve as on-the-job or formal classroom instructor.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, related to the work of this position.
  • Experience operating computer equipment, providing support to a Local Area Network (LAN), analyzing data quickly, and reading computer printouts to extract necessary information.
  • Ability to recognize and correct malfunctions and report findings to responsible personnel.
  • Experience receiving, testing, and installing new products, as well as installing software updates.
