About the position
The Computer Assistant position at the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of information systems for the Civil Engineer Squadron. This includes overseeing the acquisition, support, training, and installations of computer systems and software, as well as ensuring the security of these systems. The role requires specialized experience in computer systems and a strong understanding of civil engineering systems and operational policies.
Responsibilities
- Administers all Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) information systems.
- Manages the life cycle of computer systems and software for CES.
- Oversees the CES information systems security program.
- Acts as the Information Assurance Manager (IAM) for installation Industrial Control System (ICS).
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-08 level or equivalent in other pay systems.
- Knowledge of computer and network standards, policies, and techniques.
- Experience with servers and commercial off-the-shelf/government off-the-shelf software.
- Ability to troubleshoot and improve systems to minimize service interruptions.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Nice-to-haves
- Information Assurance Certification within six months of assignment.
- Experience in training users on new computer systems.
