About the position

The Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) Specialist I position at the Center for Local Government Technology (CLGT) is a full-time role focused on providing education, training, and technical assistance related to CAMA software and property appraisals. The specialist will support County Assessors and their deputies in implementing CAMA systems, conducting training, and assisting with property appraisals and cadastral mapping. This role requires extensive travel within the state and occasional out-of-state travel, along with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with CAMA software implementation and provide training and support to County Assessors and their deputies.
  • Conduct real and personal property appraisals and assist with cadastral mapping.
  • Coordinate specific mapping projects and assist in assessment appeals or other proceedings related to appraisals.
  • Attend relevant conferences to present and provide training on property valuations and the CAMA system.
  • Develop an annual work plan and establish performance goals with the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, adjusting the work plan and performance goals as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Three years of prior successful work experience in real estate appraisal, consulting with a County Assessor's office, or relevant management experience; post-secondary education may substitute for work experience.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma Ad Valorem Tax Laws and Oklahoma Tax Commission Rules and Regulations.
  • Understanding of cadastral mapping and its relation to mass appraisal and assessment administration practices.
  • Ability to travel extensively to consult with County Assessors and provide training and technical assistance.
  • Knowledge of property and land valuation methods and appraisal techniques for urban and rural properties.
  • Ability to communicate the ad valorem process effectively to county officials and the public.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three years of experience using or training on CAMA software, or in lieu of a degree, three years of real estate appraisal experience and seven years of experience working with a County Assessor's office.
