About the position

The Principal Engineer will support branch management in addressing technical and organizational challenges, serving as a key representative on various technical panels and review teams. This role involves providing expert guidance on range requirements, proposals, and system upgrades, while ensuring compliance with agency quality standards and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the branch.

Responsibilities

  • Assist branch management with technical and organizational challenges.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technical panels and reviews.
  • Work with Chief Engineers on programmatic and organizational challenges.
  • Perform pre-project planning duties including concept development and integration planning.
  • Monitor progress of branch and range projects and update supervisors on status.
  • Apply quality control systems and implement risk mitigation actions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for range requirements and proposals.
  • Provide technical insight into the development of policies and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 level in engineering solutions for complex systems.
  • Experience in the development, testing, and launch of aerospace or related systems.
  • Strong communication skills for management briefings and team interactions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NASA's aerospace technology and systems.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methods and compliance standards.
