About the position

SMX is seeking a skilled Advanced Computer Hardware Engineer to be part of our Information Technology Team supporting NAWCAD at Patuxent River, MD. The position involves performing programmatic or technical leadership roles to formulate, design, and/or test practical solutions to engineering problems and guide the engineering development of systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, formulating, designing, and testing practical solutions to engineering challenges, as well as guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems. This role requires the development of advanced complex systems and conducting research in applied systems. Additionally, the engineer will research, design, develop, and test computer or computer-related equipment, and may supervise the manufacturing and installation of such equipment. The position also includes overseeing and inspecting the performance and quality of Junior or Journeyman level peers, ensuring that all engineering tasks meet the required standards and specifications.

• May supervise the manufacturing and installing computer or computer related equipment
• Oversee and/or inspect the performance and quality of Junior or Journeyman level peers

Requirements

• Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI eligible
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• 7+ years of related experience required
• Experience in computer systems/networks design across physical platforms, boundaries and transfer/transport methods
• DoD 8570 compliant (IAT Level 2) with acceptable certifications such as CCNA Security, CySA+, G SEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
• Ability to interact with peers, management, and senior engineers in a constantly evolving environment
