About the position

The Computer Hardware & Software Support 1 position is an onsite role within the End User Asset Management organization of a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider. This role supports the IT Asset Management Specialist and involves managing the lifecycle of computer hardware, software, and peripherals. The position requires a strong knowledge of computer systems and applications, focusing on asset tracking, procurement management, and compliance with information security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the agency’s request and approval process for IT assets.
  • Manage procurement, life cycle, redeployment, and disposal of computer hardware and software.
  • Maintain accurate records of office automation assets.
  • Generate tracking reports for planning and budgeting purposes.
  • Establish and enforce asset management procedures and standards.
  • Draft procedures for maintaining an office automation asset database.
  • Provide technical recommendations regarding IT equipment and software purchases.
  • Meet support timelines and provide weekly status updates.
  • Maintain filing systems in compliance with requirements.
  • Track and maintain physical and computer network components from acquisition to disposal.
  • Ensure safe storage and accessibility of components.
  • Act as the designated secondary Asset Center Representative under the OPMO.
  • Provide technical information for asset acquisitions and vendor contracts.
  • Request quotes for IT hardware for the COR.
  • Conduct research on hardware/software compatibility.
  • Draft Material Requests in Asset Suite for approval.
  • Maintain inventory control of designated IT equipment.
  • Conduct inventory analysis based on usage patterns.
  • Work with the COR to maintain required stock levels.
  • Manage cellular devices through the Enterprise Business Portal.
  • Track issued call phones using database programs.
  • Order and manage cell phone accounts through the Enterprise Portal.
  • Inspect hardware for redistribution or disposal.
  • Troubleshoot equipment for functionality.
  • Coordinate hardware disposal with the IRC.
  • Handle physical inventory of computer hardware.
  • Fulfill hardware requests from various departments.
  • Prepare items for shipping to/from the warehouse.
  • Recommend shipping methods for timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 6 months of experience in Computer/Information Technology or related field providing hardware/software support is required.
  • 2 years of working knowledge of computer systems, components, operating systems, and applications software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with asset management software.
  • Familiarity with compliance and information security standards.
